David Kassir

Senior Financial Advisor

With almost 20 years of experience in financial services, I am dedicated to helping individuals meet their financial needs by developing investment plans and retirement plans around their long-term goals and risk tolerance. My extensive experience - throughout major shifts in the markets - enables me to help my clients structure balanced portfolios to address their specific financial goals..

I began my career in 1994 interning at Wheat First Butcher & Singer. In 1995 as an executive at the firm I specialized in corporate retirement plans and retirement planning. In 1997, Wheat First Butcher & Singer merged with First Union Securities, formerly Wachovia (now Wells Fargo Advisors), where I was promoted to Vice President.

In 2009 I entered into agreement to buyout a renowned broker/dealer, Manna Capital Management formerly known as Manna Financial Services Corporation, a distinguished investment firm since 1962. As a former CEO of a 53 year old investment firm in the Washington DC Metro area I realized the immense benefits of aligning myself back with my former firm Wells Fargo Advisors. In 2015 Manna Capital Management became associated with Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network, LLC.

My mission is to provide every client with targeted, comprehensive financial advice and portfolio management - delivered with the highest level of personal service and professional integrity. This commitment to service also carries over to my involvement with our local community. Committed to helping my community prosper, I am active with the Kassir Foundation.

Away from the office, I also enjoy reading, hiking, and most of all traveling.

The Mind of a Capitalist and the Heart of a Social Worker

March 28, 2017

manna forbesWe expect our financial advisors to have an in-depth understanding of financial markets and investment products, of retirement planning and college funding. David Kassir expects even more of himself. “A mentor once told me, a great financial advisor has the mind of a capitalist and the heart of a social worker,” says the CEO of Manna Capital Management. “That encapsulates who I strive to be as a human being.” For Kassir, being a financial advisor means taking the time to listen and understand each client’s unique needs and concerns, even if that takes hours in person or on the phone. It means providing each client with customized, individualized service, independent research and personal money management, and “being real and open with prospective new clients.” “I see every person who sits in front of me as someone’s mother, someone’s daughter, which makes my business very personal and very real,” says Kassir, who has a special affinity for working with “fiercely independent” women. “When people work with me, they’ve got a partner they can call 24/7, and I am there for them. That’s the depth of my commitment, a thousand percent.”

As an independent Financial Advisor associated with Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network, Manna enjoys “the freedom to work with a multitude of clients in various ways,” Kassir says. “Whatever we do is in the best interest of our clients. We’re not beholden to whatever a corporate office tells us to do.” At the same time, the practice has access to the products, services and support of a top financial firm. “Becoming a contractor with Wells Fargo Advisors was a strategic decision,” Kassir explains. “We use the brokerage arm of this 100-plus-year-old bank to custody our accounts. So in the event of another financial crisis, I’m comforted by the fact that my clients’ accounts are being held by a large, conservative institution.”

Multifaceted Financial Firm

Kassir, a 20-year financial services industry veteran, purchased Manna in 2009, at a time when “the majority of financial advisors were in full-on retreat mode.” He quickly transformed the now-55-year-old company into a multifaceted financial firm offering a wide range of services.

“Suddenly the markets began turning around, and market values began to go up, so the newly rebranded Manna Capital Management went on an upswing,” Kassir recalls. “Plus, I’ve always been one of those guys who lean toward a problem when everyone else is running the other way. I follow my gut, and it’s often right.” A committed philanthropist, Kassir believes in giving back to the community that has helped make him so successful over the years. He and his wife have contributed to a number of charitable causes, including Capital Caring, the “very special” Washington, D.C., area hospice that cared for his mother at the end of her life, and a halfway house for disadvantaged children.

“I want my business to be built on love, trust, care and kindness,” Kassir says. “There’s always a human element in what we do.”

Like Manna From Heaven, Trusted Financial Advisor David Kassir Gives His Beloved Clients True Peace of Mind

WASHINGTON, Nov. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Driven from the get-go by a wild entrepreneurial spirit and a deep-seated desire to help people, David Kassir's first taste of hard work came as a teenager in his family's restaurant business. He recounts his early days as a teen where he launched his first solo endeavor, riding a blue Gary Fischer mountain bike up to 10 miles with a green rubber hose, bungee cords around a red plastic box filled with car cleaning chemicals on the back of his bike rack to wash and detail people's cars. Back then things seemed so simple. He toiled by day cleaning cars and worked evenings in the restaurant business.

Miami herald articleUnder the mentorship of Bruce Thompson, a prominent hotel developer and one of the nation's largest timeshare developers, Kassir made the most of what he saw as an opportunity to run the valet operation in front of a new restaurant, Mahi Mah's, in Virginia Beach. He later launched his own private valet company, DK Valet Services, which had 12 locations in the region. Even back then, Kassir – now the CEO of Washington, D.C.-based Manna Capital Management - was obsessed with being successful. To him, that meant the freedom to live the life he wanted. As co-author (with Steve Forbes) of the bestselling 2014 book Successonomics, he sums up his definition of success in a chapter called "Making Saving Glamorous: Old World Ideas In The New Economy." He writes, "Success is the ability to lead the life you dream of now, not just in retirement. Success means not getting to the end of your life and realizing you missed it. Creating personal wealth becomes a process by which we achieve success."

The California born Kassir spent every moment of his spare time in those days immersed in the idea of wealth creation. He read Forbes and other magazines insatiably and estimates he's read over 150 books on finance. He was always committed to adding value where value wasn't inherently present. Kassir's dynamic journey since then has involved expansion through the buyout of other firms, and, in 2009, Georgetown Private Cliente entered into an agreement to buy out Manna Financial Services Corporation, a renowned broker/dealer and distinguished investment firm that began in 1962, with clients across the U.S. Kassir rebranded all of his acquisitions under one umbrella, Manna Capital Management.

"I see every person who sits in front of me as someone's mother, someone's daughter, which makes my business very personal and very real," says Kassir. "I am very close to my mother. It's a bond I can't explain. If it's a female prospective client, I imagine she may have children. If it's a man, I think, this is someone's dad. That perspective sets the tone for the meeting from the beginning. I take the Golden Rule, 'Do unto others,' and amplify that by the imagery of my parents. I want my business to be built on love, trust, care and kindness. Those are the values that my predecessors lived by. So while I've devoted myself to taking this firm to the next level, it was exactly the opportunity I was looking for on many levels." See Original article at Miami Herald.
